KARACHI, Feb 21: Sindh High Court Chief Justice Mushir Alam on Thursday ordered the Rangers and provincial police department to produce reports showing details of action taken by them for curbing targeted killings in Karachi.

The chief justice has sought a report from the law-enforcement agencies containing details of action taken by them to maintain law and order in the city since the Supreme Court judgment in the Karachi law and order case issued on Oct 6, 2011.

The chief justice has directed the Rangers to produce a detailed report regarding raids conducted by them, names of arrested suspects, dates of their arrests, contrabands seized from them, Rangers official who arrested them and names of police officials to whom their custody was transferred.

The chief justice also directed the police to submit their respective report showing names of suspects arrested, dates of their arrest, nature of offence, contrabands seized from them and FIRs registered against them. He also ordered the police to tell the court about the officers on whom penalties were imposed for failure to perform their duties and also details of the penalties.—PPI
