Mira Phailbus appointed ombudswoman

LAHORE, Feb 22: Former Kinnaird College principal Dr Mira Phailbus has been appointed Punjab Ombudswoman.

This is the first time that a woman has been given this slot in Pakistan. Ms Phailbus remained the KC principal for over four decades. She also has also served as the minister for education and minority affairs in the Punjab government. She currently serves on boards of several prominent educational institutions in the country.

Dr Phailbus is recognised internationally for her immense contribution to the education sector in Pakistan.

According to instructions of Punjab government, the Ombudswomen will start her work at the office of Provincial Ombudsman immediately. — Staff Reporter
