KARACHI, Feb 24: Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) central deputy secretary of information and Sindh information minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that 550 new ‘Behn Benazir Bastis’ have been constructed in all districts of the province.

According to a statement issued on Sunday, Mr Memon said that 5,063 houses in these settlements had already been completed by the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Housing Cell (SBBHC) and had been handed over free of cost to poor families, benefiting more than 35,441 people.

He said that 629 more houses were at advanced stages of completion while 1,239 more would be completed within two months and would be handed over to poor families.

Sindh information minister said in the statement that the government was also planning to build 10,000 houses for flood-affected families. He said that construction work on infrastructure development on 80-acre site in Khairpur’s Luqman deh had already begun.

He said master plan for this township is ready and 1,530 plots measuring 100 square yards will be offered to needy and poor families living in district Khairpur, free of cost.—PPI
