MANSEHRA, Feb 24: A man killed his one-month-old son in Hangrai area of Balakot on Sunday to fabricate a murder case against his brother, according to FIR of the case.

The killing came to limelight when mother of the infant, Mohammad Qasim, approached the police in Balakot and apprised them of the motives behind the killing.

Lodging an FIR with the police, one Zaibun Nisa stated that her husband Mohammad Jalil had a monetary dispute with his brother Abdul Hameed. She claimed that Mr Jalil killed his son in order to fabricate a murder case against Mr Hameed.

The police handed over the body to relatives after autopsy at King Abdullah Teaching Hospital here. The police have, meanwhile, arrested the accused in a raid on a house in Hangrai village and investigations are underway.

GIRLS’ EDUCATION: Hazara University vice-chancellor Dr Sakhawat Shah has said that promotion of female education can put the country on the path of progress and development.

“Until the women are given opportunities of education the country cannot be put on the path of progress,” he said while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Jinnah Degree College of Commerce and Management Science here on Sunday. Zamir Murad, principal of the college, also spoke on the occasion.

The VC said that parents should provide equal educational opportunities to their daughters like their sons. He said that the private sector had been playing an important role in promoting higher education in the country and praised Jinnah College for providing opportunity of technical education, particularly to female students.

VACCINATION: An NGO has started vaccinating children of sweet homes here to protect them against meningitis, which according to doctors mostly attacks people living together.

“We have started vaccination of about 1,000 children living in sweet homes and orphanages,” said Dr Ziaullah, health coordinator of National Islamic Relief Organisation, here on Sunday. He said that besides children the staff of the orphanages and sweet homes would also be vaccinated against the disease.

State minister for special education Shahjahan Yousuf inaugurated the campaign at the sweet home. He said that the government would extend the ongoing anti-meningitis campaign to other parts of the country.
