HYDERABAD, Feb 27: Employees of the Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA) continued their agitation over attack on their offices by armed activists a couple of days back. They took out a rally from the HDA offices and marched up to the Hyderabad Press Club on Wednesday demanding action against PPP city chapter office-bearers for allegedly supporting the intruders.

HDA Officers Welfare Association convener Mohammad Basheer Awan and HDA Joint Action Committee (JAC) chairman Bahram Chang who led rally, attended by representatives of HDA Muttahida Labour Division, HDA People’s Labour Bureau, HDA Non-gazetted Union and other workers, urged both government and police to provide protection to employees as their lives were in danger.

They claimed that seven to eight armed people came to office of HDA director general in his absence and dislodged the staff out of the office. They alleged that the intruders harassed and threatened staff with dire consequences. The PPP city chapter rejects the allegations.

Meanwhile, activists the Sindh People’s Students Federation (SPSF) observed a token hunger strike outside the local press club on Wednesday for the removal of HDA director-general Ghulam Mohammad Kaimkhani.

Carrying placards inscribed with slogans against him, they protesters raised slogans against him and accused him of corruption.

The protest was led by Lala Rizwan and Tariq Bhatti.
