LANDI KOTAL, March 2: A minor boy was killed when jetfighters bombed militant hideouts in Tirah valley while two security men and a local volunteer were injured in a roadside blast in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency on Saturday.

Sources said that the house of Essa Khan was hit when fighter planes targeted hideouts of militants in Khujal Khel area of Tirah. A five-year-old nephew of Essa Khan was killed and another minor girl was injured in the bombing, they said.

A portion of the house was also damaged in the strike, sources said. However, the loss inflicted on militants couldn’t be ascertained, they added.

In Sheen Qamar area of Bara, two security men and a Zakhakhel volunteer were critically injured when their vehicle was targeted by a roadside improvised explosive device.

Officials said that the vehicle was taking edibles and other necessary household items to the besieged area of Sheen Qamar. When the vehicle was about to reach its destination, a roadside explosive device exploded and caused injuries to Naib Khan, Ali Mohammad and Minar Khan, they said.

The Bara-based militant organisation Lashkar-i-Islam had besieged the Sheen Qamar area for the last two and a half years and its members had imposed a ban on all types of supplies to the area.

Security forces arrange a convoy for the convenience of Sheen Qamar residents whenever they require daily use items or need to take their patients to hospitals in Jamrud and Peshawar.
