Dir snow sports gala concludes
TIMERGARA, March 2: The three-day Dir Snow Sports festival organised by the Pak army at the scenic Shahi ground at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border concluded on Saturday.
A large number of people, including sportsmen, journalists and youth, attended the concluding ceremony.
The operational commander Brig Zaheer Malik distributed shields and trophies among the winner teams and players. The visitors also enjoyed paragliding skills of various individuals on the occasion.
The concluding ceremony had been postponed by the organisers on Feb 28 due to torrential rains and heavy snowfall at Shahi.
Different teams and players from all parts of Malakand division, including Swat, Shangla and Chitral, took part in the snow festival, the organisers said, adding main objective of the event was to engage youth in healthy activities.
TEACHERS PROMOTED: More than 2,500 teachers of different cadres of government schools in Lower Dir were promoted to basic pay scale 14, 15 and 16, respectivley, on Saturday
According to a notification issued by the district education officer Mohammad Mutahir, a total of 209 CT male, 86 CT female, 44 male PET, 36 female DM and 19 female Arabic teachers were promoted to grade 16. Similarly, 656 male PST, 423 female PST and two female Qaris were promoted to grade 15. A total of 813 male and 425 female PST teachers were promoted to grade 14.
