KARACHI, March 3: The Pakistan Muslim League-Functional and its 10 allying parties on Sunday constituted a 10-member parliamentary board which would finalise a list for seat adjustments to be made to field suitable candidates for one-to-one contest against the Pakistan People’s Party in the coming elections.

This body was formed at a meeting held at Rajar House, the residence of PML-F leader and former federal minister Haji Khuda Bux Rajar.

Jam Madad Ali, Saleem Zia, Masroor Jatoi, Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro, Maulana Asadullah Bhutto, Hyder Shahani, Syed Zain Shah, Syed Alam Shah, Mohammad Shakeel Qadiri and Mohammad Haleem Khan Ghouri are the members of the body.

The meeting participants called for replacement of ‘political’ governors with non-political governors for holding of free and fair elections in the provinces and said that in the presence of ‘political’ governors holding of free and fair elections would not be possible.

Later addressing a press conference, PML-F Sindh secretary general Imtiaz Ahmad Sheikh said that the government was making efforts to bring a mock opposition in the Sindh Assembly through manipulation, but the people of Sindh would never accept it.

He said that despite its announcement of parting of the ways with the government, the ministers and the governor belonging to a party, which is a member of the PPP-led coalition government, continued to hold their positions and because of that their claim on opposition benches could not be justified.

He urged the Election Commission to rectify electoral rolls in Karachi as per orders of the apex court.

He also demanded holding of the polls under the supervision of the Army and judiciary to ensure fair and free elections.

The PML-F leader referring to the Sindh People’s Local Government Act (SPLGA-2012) said that the PPP despite repealing the law was still claiming that the act was not harmful for the people of Sindh, though it was the law that divided the people of Sindh.

He warned that after the elections another attempt might be made to revive the ‘black law’.

Mr Sheikh condemned the terrorist incidents being carried out in the country particularly in Quetta, Shikarpur, Jacobabad and Karachi and also condemned targeted killing of Ulema and innocent people by terrorists and said that the Sindh government had failed to restore law and order in the province and had lost the right to rule.
