After Sunday’s blasts in Karachi's Abbas Town, left 48 people dead and countless injured, protests were staged all over the country in condemnation of the bombings and the Shia killings.

According to initial reports, at least 150 kilograms of explosive material was used in the bombings and the police were nowhere to be seen for at least an hour after the blasts.

Without the help of law enforcement agencies citizens in the area started sifting through the rubble themselves, carrying out rescue operations.
