THIS is apropos of a letter relating to the reuse of motor oil left at mechanic shops. The writer is correct in stating the fact. If we just look carefully we will find a lot of adulteration around us.

One type of adulteration which I want to bring to light is of cosmetic products. There is a huge mafia involved in this scam.

What these people do is pay scavengers of garbage to collect plastic bottles of shampoos, creams, even juices, water bottles and fill them with substandard products.

Cases of girls in derma wards reporting of side-effects, acne and other skin problems related to the use of these substandard products are rampant.

The first step to overcome this menace is that we should invariably deform every plastic bottle with a hot knife or any sharp object so as to render it unusable for refilling by these unscrupulous elements as they lack the technology to produce plastic.

This way the leftover bottles will be of no use to them and there will be marked decline in substandard products being sold at shops.

Cosmetics should be bought from standard shops, though at a higher price. It will save you from financial and psychological burden later on in the form of side-effects.
