35 militants killed

LANDI KOTAL/KALAYA/ KHAR, March 8: At least 35 militants and three civilians were killed in attacks and clashes in Khyber, Orakzai and Bajaur tribal agencies on Friday.

In Khyber agency, 20 militants were killed when Air Force planes pounded their hideouts.Security officials said Taliban bases were hit in Ghaibi Neeka, Speen Drand, Nari Baba and Sandana areas. Nearly half a dozen hideouts of militants were destroyed. But, the official claim could not be independently verified.

Taliban positions in Tirah valley were bombed for the second time this week.

Meanwhile, five militants were killed when members of Tirah-based Ansaarul Islam militant group clashed with Taliban near Khojal Khel area. The clashes left six militants injured on both sides.
