KARACHI: Two more Baloch men, who had gone missing in Panjgur, were found shot dead in the suburb of the metropolis on Sunday.

Earlier on Thursday, bodies of two missing Baloch men, Babu Iftikhar Baloch and Maqbool Ahmad Baloch, were found on the Northern Bypass in the Manghopir area more than a month after their disappearance in Karachi’s Raees Goth near Baldia Town. Police said that the two bodies were found in the morning along the Link Road that connects the Superhighway with the National Highway within the remit of the Steel Town police station.

The bodies were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities. Later, the bodies were taken to the Edhi morgue till the arrival of relatives of the two victims.

Acting SSP of Malir Dr Najeeb Khan told Dawn that the two men had been shot in the head and there were strangulation marks around their necks.

He said that paper slips inscribed with the names and addresses of the victims were found in their pockets.

“Master Abdul Rehman, 35, was a government schoolteacher and Zahid Hussain, 22, was a student. They lived in Panjgur and were picked up in their hometown on Feb 12 and Feb 24, respectively,” said Abdul Qadeer Baloch of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons.

Reports regarding their disappearance had been lodged with the police in Panjgur district, said Mr Baloch, who is campaigning for the missing Baloch persons after losing his son in a similar incident.

He said that with the addition of two more bodies, 11 missing Baloch persons had been found shot dead in different areas of Karachi. “The victims were mostly students and picked up in different areas on various occasions,” he said.

Most bodies found here were dumped in the outskirts of Karachi.

While Mr Baloch described the killing of the two men ‘a continuation of the state excesses against the Baloch people, the acting Malir SSP claimed that it appeared that they were killed due to some personal enmity.

The police said that family members of the victims were arriving in Karachi and an FIR would be lodged on their complaint.

Till late in the night, no case was registered at the Steel Town police station.
