GUJRANWALA: The chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), Tariq Malik, said on Wednesday that voter lists of Karachi would be handed over to the Election Commission of Pakistan in two days.

He told reporters after the inauguration of a Nadra office in Gujranwala that there were 86 million registered voters in the country and Nadra was issuing 15,000 computerised identity cards daily.

He said that Nadra was committed to cooperating with the ECP to ensure free and fair elections in the country. He said that on the directive of the Supreme Court, 37 million voters had been removed from voters’ lists as they were not verified while 36 million new voters had been added to the lists.

Mr Malik said that over 18,000 Nadra employees had been helping to run the Benazir Income Support Programme, the Border Management System and anti-polio campaigns.
