ISLAMABAD: The Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday rejected all three nominees proposed by Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf for caretaker premiership, DawnNews reported.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Nisar said that the consultation process for caretaker PM could move forward only in the case that PM Ashraf takes into consideration one of the names put forth by him.

In a letter written to the opposition leader on Thursday, the prime minister had proposed the names of former Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, former director State Bank Dr Ishrat Hussain, and former chief justice of the Balochistan High Court, Mir Hazar Khan Khoso for caretaker PM.

However, in a telephone call to Ashraf, Nisar Ali Khan rejected all three names proposed by the government.

Moreover, Nisar also withdrew the name of Justice (retired) Shakirullah Jan from the list of three nominations forwarded by him.

The other two nominees proposed by the opposition leader were Justice (retired) Nasir Aslam Zahid, and Sindhi politician Rasul Bakhsh Paleejo.
