ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) began the distribution of the nomination papers across the country on Friday, DawnNews reported.

The distribution of 120,000 nomination forms  is expected to conclude on Mar 18.

The ECP had earlier ordered the immediate printing of the nomination forms with amendments proposed by it without waiting for an approval of the president.

The nomination papers for woman was pink in colour whereas the it was white for men and blue for minorities.

Moreover the ECP agreed to meet with political parties and accepted on Friday the applications of the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) and the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F) seeking the symbols of tiger and book respectively for the upcoming elections.

The deadline for submitting applications for electoral symbols expires at midnight today.

Most major parties have already filed their applications seeking their traditional symbols.
