TAXILA, March 16: Removing speculation about seat adjustment with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), the Jamat-i-Islami (JI) on Saturday announced its candidates for one national and two provincial assembly seats.

After a thorough debate at its local Shoora, the JI leadership nominated Khawaja Mohammad Waqar Khan as candidate for NA-53 (Rawalpindi-IV) as well as PP-7 (Taxila-Chakri) while Prof Mohammad Waqas Khan for PP-8 (Wah Cantt).

Earlier, there were strong rumours that JI will support PML-N candidate in NA-53 and PP-7 while in return the Nawaz League supporters would cast their votes in favor of JI candidate for PP-8.

The JI candidate Prof Mohammad Waqas Khan returned to the provincial assembly from PP-8 Wah Cantt after winning by-election on MMA ticket in 2002.

Talking to this reporter, General Secretary JI Taxila chapter Tanzeel Mudassir rejected any deal with the PML-N.

He said that JI would make seat adjustment with different political parties in other parts of the country but not in Taxila.

He said that JI would give tough time to the its opponents during elections with its strong vote bank.
