RAWALPINDI: The Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee meeting (JCSC) on Tuesday discussed the support of Armed Forces to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) during the forthcoming general elections.

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Khalid Shameem Wynne presided over the meeting which was held here at the Joint Staff Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

The meeting reviewed issues related to the national security, the regional geo-strategic environment, and the internal security situation along with progress on the agenda points of last session, said a press release issued by the ISPR, the military’s public relations wing.

The participants expressed their satisfaction over the standard of preparedness of the armed forces to take on the upcoming challenges.

It was reiterated that a comprehensive strategy will be followed by the armed forces to combat terrorist threats being faced by the country.

The JCSC is a quarterly moot of senior military leadership to assess and evaluate the operational preparedness of the armed forces.

The meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Asif Sandila, Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, Secretary Defence, Chief of General Staff, Director General Joint Staff, Director General Inter Services Intelligence, Director General Strategic Plans Division and senior military officers from the three services.
