No one is sure why this place located in the Phase 8 Extension of the Defence Housing Authority, near the sea, is called Devil’s Point.  Some say that this a popular spot for dating couples, and according to the current wisdom in Pakistan, the devil is always present when couples date, and thus the name.

The following description of Devil’s Point, that appears in an internet car forum succinctly states what this place means to the rich and adventurous youth of Karachi.

“This is the devil point our Karachi boyz loves to riding and driving dangerously this point is our heart and we doing anything what we want.”

However, there is another side to the Devil’s Point. When the “Karachi boyz” are not doing their daredevil driving it is a beautiful and tranquil place where you can relax, away from the dust and noise of the city.  Here, Mother Nature provides the best free seats in town for viewing the sea and the sunsets by way of naturally carved rocks.  Just rent a fishing tackle and buy some bait from the serene man who sits on the dyke wall, then find a rock to your liking, plunk down on it and fish to your hearts content.  What better way to spend a day by the sea?

Transport is easily available, so what if you don’t have a car?

Buy some juicy bait from this very “cool” man.

Find a rock, stand there, and swing the bait into the big blue sea.

Too lazy to even fish?  Worry not, just sit there and enjoy the mystery of the sea.

Even the cats love this place.

Have a family picnic with the kids.

Watch a fishing boat go sailing by.

Or better still, hitch a ride in one

Watch the rocks from the sea.
