KARACHI: Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has said that delimitation of constituencies in Karachi was ‘unconstitutional and illegal’ and his party would challenge the move in the superior court.

According to DawnNews, the MQM chief said this while addressing the MQM Rabita Committee members and legal experts.

In a statement issued from London, he said that Karachiites were being robbed of their right to vote and added that the process of breaking MQM’s vote bank was in full swing.

“Can the constituencies be changed after the announcement of the date of elections and the election schedule?” he questioned.

He asked the Chief Election Commissioner Fakhuruddin G Ibrahim to look into the matter and take back the delimitation notification.

He further said that there was no room for criminal elements in the party and stressed that the party did not have any armed wings.

“MQM is against any sort of terrorism and torturous activity. We do not have any space for anti-social elements in the party. Anyone using MQM’s name for such activity is part of a conspiracy,” he added.
