TAXILA, March 24: An army officer was killed and his driver injured in a traffic accident on Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M-1) near Burhan interchange on Sunday.

The National Highways and Motorway Police said Lt-Col Nasir Ali Shah along with his driver Afzal Ahmed was going to Peshawar in his official double-cabin vehicle (HB-597) when the driver lost control due to heavy rain and slippery road.

The vehicle hit the roadside fence and overturned. As a result, the army officer died on the spot. The motorway police shifted the body and the injured to POF hospital at Wah Cantt. The condition of the driver was stated to be critical.—Correspondent
