KARACHI: The caretaker Chief Minister of Sindh, retired Justice Zahid Kurban Alavi, has said that the government has given a free hand to the police and Rangers for maintaining law and order in the province, particularly in Karachi, and soon its positive results will be visible to everyone.

The chief minister said this while speaking at a seminar organised by the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Law University  on the eve of the death anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto here at a local hotel.

The chief minister expressed the hope that on polling day on May 11, the people would come out to cast their vote in polling stations without any fear.

Paying tribute to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the chief minister said that he had been influenced by a very few people and among them was the personality of Mr Bhutto who not only possessed intellect and far-sightedness, but also wisdom and understanding.

The chief minister said that it was not necessary that one had to be a member of the PPP to eulogise the qualities of Mr Bhutto.

“Being a judge and student of law it has been my point of view that when our country was split into two, it was Zulfikar Ali Bhutto whose world-class diplomacy resulted in raising our heads among the comity of nations.”

He advised the vice chancellor of the law university to give top priority to merit to improve the image of the university.

Vice Chancellor Dr Qazi Khalid, senator Dr Farogh Naseem, caretaker Finance Minister Syed Shabbar Zaidi, Law Minister and pro-vice chancellor Mehomood Mandviwalla, Zakat minister Khalid Latif and others also highlighted different aspects of life of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto at the seminar.
