KARACHI, April 7: A 16-year-old girl, who allegedly killed a friend of her fiancé on Saturday for allegedly blackmailing her, was arrested on Sunday, police said.

“We have arrested the girl in Machhar Colony and recovered the pistol she used in the killing of Manthar,” said DSP of Korangi Qasim Ghauri.

The 16-year-old suspect, Yasmin, daughter of former policeman Mohammad Khan, had allegedly been blackmailed and harassed by Manthar, who was in his 20s.

The DSP said that Manthar and the girl were residents of Bilal Colony in Korangi and the Manthar used to harass her. On Saturday, a similar situation emerged and after having an altercation with him, the girl went to her house and took out a licensed TT pistol of her father from his safe. “She came to the residence of Manthar and warned him that she would kill him. The victim thought she was bluffing, but she took out the gun and fired two bullets at him,” DSP Ghauri added.

The man, who was alone in his house, died before he could be taken to a hospital, the police said.

They added that the girl fled. DSP Ghauri said it seemed that the girl had acted in frustration, because she had allegedly been harassed by him.
