LAHORE: An Election Tribunal (ET) of the Lahore High Court Friday sought assistance from attorney general of Pakistan and advocate general Punjab on former military ruler Musharraf’s appeal against rejection of his electoral papers.

The tribunal has issued notices to the AG and advocate general for April 16. General (retd) Pervez Musharraf had filed an appeal against rejection of his nomination papers from NA-139, Kasur.

The election tribunal comprising Justice Khawaja Imtiaz Ahmad and Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan was hearing the appeal.

Musharraf, through his appeal, submitted that he had served the country as president for 10 years, but the returning officer of Kasur rejected his nomination papers.

The appellant pointed out that his nomination papers were accepted from NA-32, Chitral.

He asked the tribunal to set aside returning officer's order and allow him to contest the election from the said constituency.
