MIRAMSHAH: A blast on a security forces convoy protecting the Frontier Works Organizations’ (FWO) staff in Saidgai area of North Waziristan Agency on Tuesday evening left at least four security personnel dead and five others injured.

Official sources told Dawn.com that the security forces' vehicles were targeted near Dorduni area of Saidgai in Ghulam Khan Tehsil of North Waziristan Agency with a road side Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

“Four soldiers have died. The exact number of injuries are not confirmed, but there are injured personnel who are being shifted to the hospital,” said a police official requesting not to be named.

Earlier, sources said that the blast was an intended case of suicide bombing but later military officials confirmed that it was a road side bombing aimed at targeting the security convoy on guard with the FWO, who are busy in development work in the area.
