QUETTA: The resolution of Balochistan issue is in establishing a strong parliamentary and democratic system in the country, says Nawabzada Lashkari Raisani, a PML-N leader and a former PPP senator.

Talking to newsmen here on Sunday, Mr Raisani said external forces were exploiting the sense of deprivation among the people of Balochistan.

He said the Baloch were deprived of their due share in development and employment opportunities during the tenures of successive governments, adding that the problem could be solved through good governance.

Mr Raisani said violence was not a solution to any problem. Only democracy and a strong parliamentary system could guarantee peace and the protection of people’s rights, he added.

He said the PML-N was ready to hold dialogue with the Baloch nationalists who were serious in the restoration of peace in the province.

The PML-N leader hoped that his party would form the next government and would evolve comprehensive policies for resolving the issue of Balochistan.

He stressed the need for taking the local leadership on board while framing policies for Balochistan. The issue of missing persons was very important and needed to be resolved on priority basis, he added.

Answering a question, he said the trial of retired Gen Pervez Musharraf was a test of the judiciary.

Mr Raisani said he left the PPP because of his differences with the top leadership of the party. He said he saw the continuity of the policies of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto in the decisions of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif.—Staff Correspondent
