THIS is with reference to your editorial (April 20) regarding the ban on YouTube since September 2012.

I fully support your view that the present caretaker set-up is well within its powers to lift the ban on YouTube, which is depriving the people to access valuable information available on it.

You have rightly pointed out that the present caretaker minister for information is an enlightened and senior journalist, who has often reiterated the importance of citizens’ right of free access to information.

Furthermore, I would like to confirm that he had made a commitment on a major TV channel that he would get the ban lifted within the time of the caretakers, adding that “just because of one inappropriate book, one does not shut down a library!”

Concluding, I would like to request Mr Aref Nizami not to leave something for tomorrow, which can be done today.
