KARACHI: The District Returning Officer (DRO) of Karachi’s south area Shahid Shafi wrote a letter on Wednesday to the provincial government requesting the deployment of Rangers and armed forces personnel at all polling stations throughout the district, DawnNews reported.

The DRO stated in his letter that in the past days, the Education Officer of Karachi’s Jamshed town Ali Arif was harassed by armed men.

Moreover, he said officials and polling staff of other sensitive areas were also receiving threats and had complained of harassment hence it was vital to combine army personnel and Rangers in the district in order to ensure that the polling staff could perform their duties smoothly.
