LAHORE, May 7: Unidentified gunmen fired shots at an election office of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in Begumpura (Gujjarpura) and fled the scene on Tuesday, a party official said.
However, the police claimed the suspects opened fire at the adjacent house of a PTI activist.
Muhammad Ahsaan, who is personal secretary to PTI’s NA-123 candidate Atif Chauhdry, said around 15 to 20 activists were present at the office at the time of the incident.
He said the suspects fired several shots and four of those hit the main gate, adding that no human loss or injury was reported in the incident.
Civil Lines SP (Investigation) Fida Husain told Dawn that preliminary investigation showed that two armed motorcyclists came outside the house of Advocate Babar Waseem who had set up an election office in NA-123 adjacent to his residence.
The suspects fired four shots which hit the gate and fled, the SP said, adding that a case had been registered against unidentified assailants on the complaint of Waseem.
