QUETTA: Militants fired a rocket at the residence of Balochistan National Party-Awami (BNP-A) chief Mir Israrullah Zehri in Khuzdar town on Thursday, police said.
Qadir Qambrani, a police official told Dawn.com that a rocket fired by militants from an undisclosed location damaged the wall of Zehri's residence.
Qambrani said there were no casualties. The rocket attack was followed by aerial firing by Zehri's security guards.
In another incident, militants lobbed a hand grenade at the residence of Asad Baloch, the central secretary general of BNP-A.
Levies said nobody was hurt in the attack.
Meanwhile, a passerby was killed when armed men attacked the electoral rally of a PML-N candidate in Naseerabad area of Balochistan.
Ayub Baloch, a police official told Dawn.com that armed men opened fire at the rally of Shaukat Bangulzai a candidate for PB28.
Baloch said a pedestrian was killed, however Bangulzai himself remained unharmed.
In other news, militants also blew up polling stations in Kharan, Panjgoor and different areas of Balochistan.
A shutter down and wheel jam strike was also observed in almost all Baloch dominated areas of the province.
The Baloch National Front (BNF) had given the call of strike. BNF comprises of Baloch separatists parties who oppose the elections.
National highways linking Pakistan with Iran and Balochistan along with Karachi and other parts of Sindh and Punjab were deserted due to the strike.
Shops were closed in Kalat Madtung Kharan and other areas of Balochistan.
The government has deployed sixty two thousand military paramilitary and police to ensure peaceful elections in Balochistan.
