LAHORE: Punjab Governor, Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood has announced his resignation from the post following Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) clean sweep in Punjab.

Addressing a press conference he said that he had sent his resignation to Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari.

Mahmood said that the public has chosen the PML-N and that it should be accepted. He also said that he hopes that PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif will succeed in administering Pakistan in an efficient manner.

He also stated that he will no longer participate in parliamentary politics, but will continue to serve Pakistan in his own capacity.
