PESHAWAR, May 14: Three people, including two alleged miscreants and a woman passerby, were killed during exchange of fire between police and miscreants here in Badhber area on Tuesday.

The two alleged miscreants were later identified as Saqib Ibrar and Umar Sheharyar, both residents of Peshawar, and the woman passerby as Jamila Bibi.

Another passerby, Inayat Khan, also suffered injuries in the incident.

Local police said they seized two hand grenades, a kalashnikov and a pistol.

According to them, the two suspects riding a luxurious vehicle was signaled to stop at Zhangali checkpost but instead, they sped away. Later, when the vehicle reached near Badhber police station, police again tried to stop them but they opened fire at police resulting in exchange of fire.

Police said the firing by miscreants caused the death a woman passerby and injury of another.

An official at the Badhber police station said during exchange of fire, the two miscreants were killed.

He said police had registered an FIR against miscreants and began investigation.

The official said a remote control had also been recovered from the vehicle and therefore, police suspected presence of explosives in it for which the bomb disposal unit was informed.

He, however, said no explosives except two hand grenades were found in the vehicle.
