LAHORE, May 15: The Lahore High Court suspended on Wednesday the caretaker government’s order to remove Arif Hameed from the post of managing director of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines and sought a reply from the government.

In a writ petition challenging his removal Mr Hameed said that the caretaker government had acted beyond its mandate and jurisdiction.

His counsel said the removal of the petitioner soon after the elections put several questions on the intention of the caretaker government and spoke volumes about the illegality involved in the action.—Staff Reporter
