KARACHI: On the advice of the Prime Minister, President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday approved the confirmation of three additional judges of the Sindh High Court (SHC) and one additional judge of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

Justice Noor ul Haq N. Qureshi, Additional Judge has been elevated to the post of IHC judge while Justice Abdul Rasool Memon, Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto and Justice Sadiq Husaain Bhatti have been confirmed as SHC judges.

Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar said these nominations were forwarded by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan to the Parliamentary Committee on Judges Appointment in the Superior Courts, which could not hold its meeting due to electioneering.

Under Clause 12 of Article 175 A of the Constitution, the nominations sent by the Judicial Commission, were deemed to have been confirmed. The nominations have been forwarded to the Prime Minister.
