KHAR, May 17: Bajaur Agency Political Agent Syed Abdul Jabar Shah on Friday rejected ‘propaganda’ against the local administration and the polling staff for supporting and favouring certain candidates in the general elections.

He said the administration remained fully impartial and neutral during the electoral process of the two national assembly constituencies in the agency.

This he said while speaking at a meeting attended by various political leaders and losing candidates on NA-43 and NA-44 seats.

Mr Shah, who was also the agency’s returning officer, said the administration had fulfilled its commitment for holding ‘free, fair, transparent and peaceful’ election. He further said officials and staff of the administration were impartial and did not favour any candidate.

Mr Shah said claim of rigging in the election by some leaders of political parties and the losing candidates was baseless. He asked the candidates that if they had any solid evidence they should bring it into the notice of the administration.

“The administration and the election commission are investigating the rigging issue but so far no evidence has been found from any polling station of both the constituencies,” he said.

He appreciated the role of tribal elders, leaders of political and religious parties and the candidates for supporting the administration in successful holding of the election.

The political agent urged the candidates to end their protest demonstration against the result of the elections as protests and strikes were not in the interest of the people of the agency. —Correspondent
