PESHAWAR, May 17: An independent MPA-elect from Haripur Gohar Nawaz Khan has announced joining the Qaumi Watan Party.

The announcement was made during a press conference at central secretariat of the party here on Friday. He commented that the QWP was the only party which wanted to bring a positive change to the lives of the poor people.

Mr Nawaz reposed confidence in the leadership of Aftab Sherpao and assured him that he would work to strengthen the party in his hometown.

Speaking on the occasion, QWP chairman Aftab Ahmed Sherpao welcomed the MPA into his party. Expressing his concern over the unannounced and unscheduled loadshedding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said the energy crisis had badly affected the economy of the province. He said the excessive power suspensions had also caused joblessness, adding electricity was the lifeline for socio-economic development.

The QWP chief said his party would not tolerate any further injustice with the people of KP and all out efforts would be made to secure rights of the province. He demanded an immediate end to the excessive and unscheduled loadshedding in the province. The QWP leader pledged to make utmost efforts for the wellbeing of the Tarbela Dam affected people. He said the party would continue the mission of his father, Hayat Mohammad Khan Sherpao, who struggled for the cause of the poor people.

Meanwhile, QWP chief condemned the bomb blasts in Malakand. In a statement, he expressed concern over the loss of human lives in the gory incidents and prayed to Allah to rest the departed souls in the eternal peace and give courage to the bereaved families to cope with the tragedy with equanimity.
