HYDERABAD, May 20: Expressing dissatisfaction over the performance of Qasimabad TMA for maintaining the zoological garden known as Rani Bagh, Hyderabad Divisional Commissioner Dr Riaz Ahmed Memon has ordered an inquiry into suspected irregularities and utilization of the funds earmarked for the recreational facility.
Presiding over a meeting in his office on Monday regarding the improvement of Rani Bagh, he warned the officers concerned of action against them if they failed to get all activities streamlined within a week.
According to a press release, those attending the meeting included Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Nawaz Soho, Qasimabad Assistant Commissioner Ghazanfar Ali Qadri, Hyderabad Municipal Commissioner Rafique Rajput, Hyderabad Director Local Government Zahid and others.
After a briefing through multimedia over the deteriorated condition of Rani Bagh and its zoo section, he said Rani Bagh had sufficient income and receipts, but the money was not being utilised efficiently to maintain or bring about improvement in it.
He directed the assistant commissioner of Qasimabad to inquire into this matter and also to re-visit all contracts and leases of properties made by the previous administration and submit a report to him. He directed that from now on, each transaction except for salary would be made through the assistant commissioner and all the contracts of Rani Bagh would be tendered to get competitive services for the park and its zoological section.
Pointing out the faulty drainage system of Rani Bagh, he asked the deputy commissioner of Hyderabad to assign independent engineers and revenue officer to identify causes and rectify the system. He directed officers of Town Municipal Administration (TMA) to remove all encroachments from the front section and maintain its security.
