KARACHI, May 20: The Sindh High Court on Monday directed an anti-terrorism court to determine the age of Shahrukh Jatoi, the prime accused in the Shahzeb murder case, keeping in view the B-Form issued by the National Database Registration Authority, passports and his academic certificates.

A division bench headed by Justice Maqbool Baqar disposed of the petition of the prime accused with this direction.

Shahrukh Jatoi along with three other accused — Nawab Siraj Ali Talpur, Nawab Sajjad Ali Talpur and their servant Ghulam Murtaza Lashari — have been charged with killing Shahzeb Khan after a brawl in the DHA Phase-V area on December 24, 2012.

The petitioner, represented by Advocate Akhtar Hussain, submitted that his date of birth was Nov 17, 1995 according to the B-Form issued by Nadra, the academic certificates and the birth certificates issued by a private hospital and a zonal municipal committee.

His counsel submitted that the two passports issued to his client also showed that he was underage.

He submitted that the trial court ordered an ossification test for determination of Jatoi’s age and the police surgeon issued a certificate according to which Jatoi’s age was between 17 and 18 years.

Advocate Hussain stated that later the trial court expressed dissatisfaction over the police surgeon’s report and ordered constitution of a medical board.

He said that Jatoi was declared to be between 19 and 20 years as the investigation officer of the case produced before the trial court a document of his own choice showing a wrong date of birth.
