ISLAMABAD, May 22: An additional sessions judge of Islamabad on Wednesday restrained the Capital Development Authority (CDA) from recruiting legal professionals in its directorate after a candidate challenged the said recruitment.

The CDA on May 8 advertised vacant posts of legal professionals and asked the interested and qualified candidates to apply for the vacant post.

Advocate Munir Ahmed Ranjha, who also wanted to join the CDA legal team, however, challenged the said advertisement.

He filed the petition before the additional sessions judge Raja Khurram Ali Khan and requested to set aside the process for the recruitment for the legal professional in the CDA.

In the petition, advocate Munir contended that he had already applied before the ministry of law and justice for his inclusion in the civic body’s legal team, adding that the law ministry was the competent forum for the appointment of CDA law officers.

He said that the law ministry after examining his credentials included him in the CDA panel, but the authorities instead of assigning him due responsibilities, advertised the posts of legal professionals and sought applications from the public.

According to him, since the law ministry was the relevant forum for the selection of law officers for government organizations, including the CDA, therefore civic body could not seek applications directly from the candidates for the posts of legal professionals.—A Reporter
