Chinese PM meets Kayani

ISLAMABAD: Chinese Prime Miniser Li Keqiang was meeting with army chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani and naval chief Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila in Islamabad, DawnNews reported.

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Khalid Shameem Wyne was also present at the meeting.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Chinese premier pledged to deepen strategic ties between China and Pakistan irrespective of the international situation.

Also on Wednesday, Prime Minister Keqiang was decorated with Pakistan’s highest civil award, Nishan-i-Pakistan, by President Asif Ali Zardari who said at a reception held in his honour that the “visit will mark yet another important step forward in reinforcing the strategic partnership between the two countries”.

@N K Ali: Army is the strongest political party in Pakistan. They do not have to run in the elections; they have all the guns. Frankly, the results of election 2013 show that army will step in within a year, because the new government is not going to be able to solve the problems of the country, and the people, who are already impatient, will be on the streets again.

sir, if securty matters are to be discussed by armed forces themselves then what nwaz sharif will do? this is state within state. in india chinese premeir did not meet coas gen bikram singh.. pakistan is a democratic country. it appears it is oligarchy of army officers, jagirdara,vadera, mullahs , industrialists and civilian officers are ruling the state. now nwaz sharif will release funds for armed forces . he will be left with little money to carry out any welfare activity for poor like in pakistan

I object to the use of the word "palace" for President house. Firstly because we have no king in Pakistan; palaces belong to kings. Secondly, because in a VERY poor country like Pakistan, even if the president lives in a highly luxurious house, the word palace makes people very uncomfortable comparing it with their dwellings in slums and ghettos!

@r.s.soni: Simple reply. China and Pakistan have deep and strategic economic and military ties.. India and China may be trying to cooperate economically, but they will never have military ties.. Hence the fact that the Chinese Premier didn't meet the Indian Army Chief

Li Keqiang knows who is actually in power in Pakistan.....the military chief. However, when in India, he met with the democratically elected civilian leaders.
