QUETTA, May 22: The Secretary General of the National Party, Mir Tahir Bizenjo, has said his party was ready to accept the offer of PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif if he gives the chief minister’s slot to the NP.

Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday, he said that keeping in view Balochistan’s political and social environment the PML-N chief should show large-heartedness and offer the post of the chief executive of the province to the National Party.

“We have authorised Nawaz Sharif to nominate the leader of the house and that will be acceptable to his party, but it will be better to give a chance to the NP,” Mr Bizenjo said.

The NP leader said the leadership of his party had the ability and capacity to face challenges being faced by Balochistan. “We will make all possible efforts to resolve the problems of Balochistan and bring angry Baloch youths back into the mainstream,” he said.

Asked if Pakhtunkhawa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai would support the appointment of Dr Abdul Malik, President of the National Party, as the chief minister of Balochistan, Mr Bizenjo said the PkMAP and NP had a good understanding and cordial relations.

The two parties had taken a decision about the formation of the Balochistan government jointly, he said. “Joining the coalition government in Balochistan will be a joint decision of the PkMAP and NP.”

However, he expressed displeasure over induction of independent MPAs-elect into the PML-N and said that the PkMAP, NP and PML-N were enjoying a majority required for the formation of government in Balochistan.

He hoped that the next prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, would take seriously the issue of Balochistan and would make all efforts to resolve years-long problems of the province. “The federation can be strengthened through resolving the issue of Balochistan,” he said.

The NP leader said that law and order, unemployment and poverty would be big challenges for the new provincial government.

He supported the demand of the teachers recruited under the Aghaz-i-Haqooq-i-Balochistan Package for regularisation of their services.
