ISLAMABAD, May 25: The Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry on Saturday took notice on an application by a teacher who was deprived of an allowance.
Mst. Shamim Akhter, Senior Subject Specialist, Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Khushab, had submitted an application in Human Rights Cell of Supreme Court of Pakistan, Islamabad.
She stated in her application that she has acquired M.Phil degree in subject of education but she was being denied the M.Phil allowance.
She requested the court to direct the department concerned to do release the allowance.
Taking the cognizance, the Chief Justice of Pakistan sought a report from Secretary Education, Govt of Punjab.
Complying with the directions, the education department admitted that the applicant had been entitled to M.Phil allowance at the rate of Rs5,000 per month.
They also intimated that the finance department has issued a notification dated April 1, 2013, according to which all government employees across the board are entitled to allowance Rs 5000 per from April 1, 2013.
