PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaisar was sworn in as speaker of 11th Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Thursday whereas Imtiaz Shah took oath as deputy speaker, Dawnnews reported.

Qaiser and Imtiaz Asad Shah were elected unopposed as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly's speaker and deputy speaker respectively after the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) withdrew its candidatures at the last minute.

Outgoing speaker Kiramatullah Khan administered oath to Qaisar whereas Imtiaz Shah was sworn in as the deputy speaker of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly by the newly elected speaker.

Moreover, three candidatures including PTI's Pervez Khattak, JUI-F's Maulana Lutf-ur-Rehman, and PML-N's Wajih-uz-Zaman Khan were submitted for the post of provincial chief minister.

The Assembly session was adjourned until 10:00 am tomorrow.

In the province, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) won the highest number of seats — 35 —in the May 11 general elections.

The JUI-F had announced it would sit on KP’s opposition benches.

Earlier, PTI, Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) and Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) had finalised a formula over the formation of a coalition government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to which JI and QWP would get three ministries each whereas PTI would hold the positions of chief minister and speaker in the province.

Then you (along with majority of the population) should have voted young people into the assemblies. Imran khan and PTI lived up to their promise that 80% of the tickets would be given to young people. It is not PTI's fault that given an option to vote for young people, the people of Pakistan decided to vote for old faces instead. And PTI never promised that each and every position in the government will be given to a young person.

I really dont understand these people's comments. Imran Khan NEVER said that he would only field young candidates nor that only the youngsters would be elected to public office. These anti-PTI trolls talk nonsense most of the time.

He did criticize Shahbaz Sharif for building bridges and starting Metro bus service in Lahore and not producing electricity. H should now produce electricity in KP first, let us see what he does!

It is unwise to compare on the basis of electricity generation alone while there is a gigantic difference between Punjab's and KP's revenues.

you don't go building bridges and bus service when the general public don't have food, home, clothes, health, security and education concerns. Its like your family is deprived of food, home, education. The head of household gets some money, and he buys a new car with it. But in between, am glad you finally did realize that electricty was responsiblity of the province after the 18th amendment
