PESHAWAR: Nawaz Sharif's call for peace talks made to the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan was welcomed by the proscribed militant organisation on Thursday.
Talking to Dawn.com from an undisclosed area, TTP spokespersons Ehsanullah Ehsan said that the offer for peace talks made by Prime Minister-elect Nawaz Sharif was a positive sign and that the militant organisation was devising a strategy over the course of action to be taken in response to the peace talk offers.
Moreover Ehsan also claimed that the banned oganisation was responsible for the bomb attack in Quetta today and said that the attack was carried out in retaliation to the killing in balochistan of their activists from Malakand region.

Wow, they are killing people left, right and center, and Nawaz wants to talk to them. I can just see the Taliban thinking here comes another dufus from Islamabad.
They need to be treated like enemies of the state. They are not citizens. They are fighting a war and have complete disregard for any government. Send in the army, bomb them out, and don't stop until they are finished.

They are most unreliable and dangerous folks. Their principles are based on hatred and violence. Their past and present are stained with blood of those who were innocent. Anybody trying to be friendly with them is like to be like them. They have once said that had Quaid-e-Azam been today alive they would have killed him also. They have given the reason in his name. How can one feel comfortable with them ?

Yes, make peace talks with the people who deliberately killed more than 100 innocent people during the election campaign, plus the thousands of other deaths during the last year. Peace talks with the terrorist? Good luck with that Sharif.

i speak their language and i am ashamed of that. I hate them. they are not muslims. they are just barbarians. never ever talk to them. they are killers not muslims. they say they want to enforce shariah. Is this the way prophet Muhammad enforced shariah in madina and mecca, killing innocent people in masajid. Pakistan government should never talk to these murderers.

Taliban phenomena keep on getting stronger with each passing day as they receive no popular condemnation of their acts in Pakistan, resulting in demoralizing of security forces fighting them.Their best defeat will be ideological front, and only people capable of doing that are the people of Pakistan, if they wish to.

Almost seems like a whole show that was put on to bring Nawaz Sharif back to power and turn him into savior of sorts. TTP has received funding from Gulf Arabs in the past, Nawaz Sharifs govt gets 15 billion dollars in aid immediately after winning election from Saudi Arabia.
Do Pakistanis rule Pakistan anymore?

Judging by all of the comments I see so much hatred... so what is the difference between you people and TTP... if given the opportunity the Pakistani Secular fascists will do as their brothers have done in Bangladesh recently ...
As for people saying they are killing our innocent... Absolutely killing innocent people is the worst sin there is and there is no two opinions about it being the most disgusting sin .... Only thing I would add is we should feel the same way for BOTH sides.. when our military KILLS their women and children its just as abhorring as when they do the same to us....
If we as a nation are serious about making progress and fixing this issue... we need to understand what the TTP wants (because at the end of the day they are Pakistani) ... and we should accept whats good and reject whats bad.... and Please don't tell me that there is no room to talk to them because they want to impose their views upon us... as this is so hypocritical of us as we want to do the same to them....

Peace talks! On the day they bombed Quetta, they turn around and say they want "peace". It will be far more convincing that they want to enforce shariah in their own way in Pakistan...the way the Wahabi are in Saudi. I would advice Nawaz to phone the military and finish these guys - they are the military's creation after all.

who cares if they welcome these 'talks', three conditions to them or ther smashing continues:
1. Laydown Arms
2. Respect the constitution of Pakistan
3. Disband their courts and pledge allegiance to Pakistan and denounce the violence against innocent people.
Simple as that, anything else and Pakistan needs to smash them hard, they are enemies of this state, nothing more needs to be said.

Nawaz Sharif is playing a very dangerous game. Don't forget, one of his senior party members asked Talibans to leave Punjab alone (as if Punjab is not Pakistan) and implied that it is OK to attack other parts of Pakistan. No wonder this "I scratch your back and your scratch mine" game will hurt Pakistan and Mr, Sharif will regret it. Talibans are not humans let aloe Muslims. We need to ask our armed forces to kill all of them. They are enemies of Pakistan......and that includes Punjab Mr. Nawaz Sharif.

15 deaths in Malaknd show that the TTP has absolutely no respect for Imran's and Nawaz Sharif's peace overtures. This massacre specially to kill nimazis of the two mosques should open the eyes of the two leaders -- with what kind of beastly enemy they are about to deal with that has no regard for Islamic prayer places -- and they call themselves Muslims and talk of Sharia.

TTP is a terrorist organization. They should not be given credence to anything. They kill innocent civilians without just cause. If they are trying to defend themselves by claiming that their women and children are also being killed because of unjust military intervention by Pakistan or whatever other government then the responsibility lies with the governments to rectify this situation. Every government in the world especially those with some sort of power are acting according to their interests and not the interest of creating peace in the world. Innocent civilians should not be the target of these injustices. This is not the example of Prophet Muhammad (saw) to maintain absolute justice. TTP does not represent Islam but a political and a terrorist movement. They should be banned and put into jail not reasoned with. Those who support them do so by supporting their own erroneous and extreme views of Islam. This is being disingenuous to a peaceful faith. TTP crimes are evident by their own admittance of committing them throughout the past years in Pakistan and abroad. This is a non-issue. Let us all support peace by eradicating extremism like this which has no place anywhere in the world.

Couldn't agree with you more. The so called educated people who leave comments in Taliban's support in such eloquently written English are the root cause for making this issue spiral out of proportions in the first place. These so called educated jahils can not see logic, rationality and reason as they consider it beneath them to indulge in such farce, they think it is their birth right to act on their stone-aged understanding of religion.
One can't correct himself if he is so ignorant to see and acknowledge a mistake to begin with.

@Abid: what kind of appeasement strategy are you espousing. Tell that to the thousands of innocents that have been murdered in cold blood by the romantically titled "tehrik-e-taaliban". you say "their actions are harming Islam rather than helping"...as though the latter interpretation was in the realm of possible interpretations of these thugs undertakings. Look at what they wreaked in Swat when they held it for a few months - bodies hanging from trees, women locked indoors, vigilante justice, a young child shot in the head because she wanted education for herself. Is this what you wish for? There was a reason the Allies didn't negotiate with Hitler. In the same way, you don't negotiate with an ideology that is so alien and brutal that it removes any sense of humanity from itself. Think about it.

Its so sad that state of Pakistan is so weak that we are now offering to talk to these butchers, animals and murderers. They have killed thousands of innocent Pakistanis and rather than bringing them to justice and hanging them in an open stadium, we are begging them to talk. Its just sad. TTP has welcome the talk offer and in the same breath they confess to kill 12 innocent Pakistanis at Quetta this morning.
