Security threat: NGOs close offices at Jalozai camp

PESHAWAR: Foreign and local humanitarian aid organisations shut their offices at the Jalozai IDP camp in Nowshera district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Friday after security agencies alerted them to a potential terrorist attack threat.

According to government officials, the offices were closed down Friday morning due to threats of an attack targeting the aid organisations.

Usman Khalid, the incharge at the Jalozai camp, confirmed that all offices, including those of the United Nation's WFP, UNHCR, WHO, and all local civic and health providing NGOs were asked to be closed down due to the threat.

Khalid said all offices will stay shut until further notice.

In March this year, a car-bomb ripped through a food distribution point of the World Food Programme (WFP) in Jalozai, claiming at least seventeen lives.

Jalozai is one of the largest camps for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Pakistan.
