QUETTA: Security forces on Wednesday claimed to have foiled two terror bids in Balochistan’s Quetta and Bolan districts and also arrested six alleged militants in Noshki district.

Anti Terrorist Force (ATF) personnel took six suspected militants into custody from a private hospital of Quetta on Wednesday evening.

Intelligence sources, who did not want to be named, told Dawn.com that the arrested suspects belong to a banned separatist organisation.

The suspects had sustained serious wounds and one of their colleague was killed when their vehicle was blew up in a mysterious blast in the Pak-Afghan border district Noshki.

Intelligence officials said explosives and bombs were being smuggled to Quetta, in order to carry out subversive activities, when the explosion occurred near the Pak-Afghan border.

Security forces laid seige of private hospital which was approached by the militants for treatment after the blast.

The militants were arrested, two of whom were wounded and under treatment at the facility, after carrying out a thorough search of the premises.

Later the injured militants arrested were shifted to Quetta for treatment.

Moreover in another incident the Frontier Corps conducted a raid in Killi Nasarabad area of Quetta and picked up two suspected militants, FC sources told Dawn.com.

They said security personnel recovered huge quantity of arms and explosives from the suspects’ possession. Both suspects were being questioned by senior officials.

In Bolan, Levies personnel defused a 14 kilogram explosive device in Dhadar and arrested two accused.

Levies sources said the accused had planted explosive material to blow up a railway track and a gas pipeline. They said a major bid of terrorism was foiled upon receiving timely intelligence reports.

The arrests came three days after a deadly suicide bombing in Quetta’s Hazara Town which claimed 30 lives.
