QUETTA: Armed militants torched a container supplying fuel to US and Nato troops in Balochistan' s Bolan district on Sunday.

Fateh Muhammad, a Levies official told Dawn.com that two gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire at the container in Dhadar area of the district.

“The container was forced to stop after gun fire, at which point the armed assailants set it on fire,” Muhammad said. The attackers drove off after the strike.

Police and levies reached the spot and investigation into the incident was underway.

Muhammad said that the driver of the container Hamdullah was unharmed.

Just a day earlier, armed militants torched an oil tanker carrying fuel for Saindak Copper and Gold Project run by a Chinese company in Mastung district.

A senior police officer said that one tanker caught fire while another tanker remained undamaged during that incident.

The oil tankers were supplying fuel to Chinese run copper and gold project in Saindak area. Chinese have been operating the Saindak copper and gold project for the past few years.
