QUETTA: Armed militants torched four oil tankers carrying fuel for a Chinese company in Chaghi district of Balochisan on Sunday evening.

Ghullam Haider, a Levies official told Dawn.com that militants opened fire on four oil tankers carrying fuel for a Chinese company, operating in the Saindak Copper-Gold project, in Chaghi district of Balochisan.

He said all four tankers caught fire during firing by militants.

"Flames of fire and thick black some could be seen on the spot", Haider said, adding that there was no information regarding the number of militants involved in the attack.

The drivers managed to escape unhurt from the spot, the levies official added.

The administration was facing difficulties to put off roaring flames of fire due to the lack of fire fighters in the remote area of Balochistan.

This incident comes a week after the militants had torched an oil tanker carrying fuel for a Chinese company in Mastung district of Balochistan.

Kidnapped child recovered

A seven year old kidnapped boy was recovered and three kidnappers were arrested during Levies operation in Balochistan' s Killa Abdullah district on Sunday morning.

Alam Faraz, the Assistant Commissioner Killa Abdullah told Dawn.com that a child was kidnapped by a gang few days ago from the district and the kidnappers were demanding ransom from the family of the child.

He said a levies party led by senior administration officers was formed to conduct opertion for recovery of child.

"The child has been recovered unhurt during the operation", the official said.

He added that three kidnappers were also take into custody by the levies personnel whereas weapons were also recovered from the possession of the arrested men.

The arrested kidnappers were shifted to Quetta for interrogation.

Incidents of kidnapping for ransom are on the rise in Quetta and different parts of Balochistan.

Two section officers of Balochistan Civil Secretariat were abducted by armed militants from a high security zone of Quetta in brazen day light a week ago.

The administration had no information about the kidnapped officers.
