LAHORE, July 14: Provincial Minister for Agriculture Dr Farrukh Javed has said the Punjab government will give 80 per cent subsidy on the installation cost of tube wells run on solar energy.
He said this while presiding over a high-level meeting on Sunday that was also attended by Agriculture Secretary Dr Ejaz Munir, Water Management DG Chaudhry Ashraf and experts.
Dr Javed said the Punjab government would provide solar energy panels to farmers with less than 12.5 acres of land. It was proposed during the meeting that solar panels should be installed in those districts of the province where water table was between 50 and 80 feet.
The minister said the government planned to initially install 100 solar energy-supported tube wells on experimental basis. — APP
