PESHAWAR: Police conducted a raid in Badaber area of Peshawar Thursday during which one suspected militant was killed and two others were arrested.

On receiving a tip-off, police conducted a raid at a house in Peshawar’s Badaber area. As soon as the raiding party reached the locality, they were fired upon by militants.

During the exchange of gunfire between police and militants, one suspect was killed whereas two others were arrested.

According to the police, the arrested persons were wanted in several cases.

Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, lies on the edge of Pakistan's tribal areas, labelled by Washington as the main sanctuary for Al Qaeda and Taliban militants in the country. The city has seen frequent attacks by militants in the past few years, with targets ranging from civilians to policemen and other law enforcement personnel.
