ISLAMABAD, Aug 8: Pakistan Army announced on Thursday promotion of four major generals to the rank of lieutenant general.

The officers are Director General of Military Operations Maj Gen Ashfaq Nadeem, Acting Commander of Air Defence Maj Gen Zamirul Hassan Shah, Commandant of Infantry School, Quetta, Maj Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and Chief Instructor of B-Division of National Defence University Maj Gen Javed Iqbal.

The promotions were made against existing vacancies of air defence commander and inspector general of arms, whereas two positions would fall vacant with the impending retirement of Commander of X Corps Lt Gen Khalid Nawaz on Aug 13 and Commander of XII Corps, Quetta, Lt Gen Alam Khattak next month.
